Inspection and testing
Fast, local, and fully compliant. We provide on-site inspection, supply, and maintenance to keep Tasmania’s core industries moving.
In industries like mining, aquaculture, and shipping, your wire ropes take an absolute beating. Between the salt off the Southern Ocean and the hard yakka on Tassie construction sites, wear and tear is inevitable.
At WRS – Wire Rope Services Tasmania, we make sure your lifting gear is safe, compliant, and fit for purpose. Forget waiting weeks for inspectors to fly down from the mainland. Our locally based team is ready to deploy across the state to minimise your downtime and keep your site running safely.
Our Inspection & Certification Services
We offer a comprehensive suite of inspection and testing services tailored to your specific operations, whether you’re running cranes in Launceston, drilling on the West Coast, or hauling nets in the Huon Valley.
Comprehensive Visual & Dimensional Inspections
Our certified inspectors thoroughly examine your wire ropes for visible signs of fatigue, including broken wires, crushing, corrosion, bird-caging, and core protrusion. We also measure for diameter reduction to ensure the rope hasn’t stretched beyond safe limits.
Magnetic Rope Testing (MRT)
You can’t always see the damage on the outside. We use advanced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) via Magnetic Rope Testing to inspect the internal condition of your wire ropes. This is crucial for detecting internal corrosion and broken wires that a visual check might miss.
Compliance & Certification
Safety isn’t just about ticking boxes; it’s about protecting your crew. We provide full compliance auditing and issue rigorous certification that aligns with WorkSafe Tasmania requirements, the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) guidelines, and all relevant Australian Standards (AS).
Thorough Asset Management
Keeping track of inspection dates can be a headache. We help you manage your lifting register, providing clear, digitised reports and reminding you when your next periodic inspection is due.
